Gaza – October 24, 2024: Al-Awda Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip is facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to the ongoing Israeli assaults, now in their 20th consecutive day. These attacks have resulted in widespread destruction, leaving over 770 dead and more than 1,000 injured Palestinians. In a press release, the hospital stated that since the beginning of the aggression, it has received over 3,585 medical cases, including 138 surgeries, 541 injured individuals, and 41 martyrs.
The medical staff continues to work under harsh and difficult conditions, having admitted 394 critical cases to the inpatient departments since the start of the offensive, with 43 patients still receiving medical care.
Al-Awda Hospital has been subjected to direct attacks, causing severe damage to the building, with injuries to several staff members, as well as the destruction of vital facilities such as water filtration and sterilization systems, and ambulances.
The hospital remains under tight siege, preventing patients from accessing healthcare and obstructing the delivery of medical aid. The Al-Awda Health and Community Association has called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to ensure the provision of essential medical supplies and to protect medical personnel and facilities.
Rafat Ali Al-Majdalawi, the General Manager of the Al-Awda Health and Community Association, emphasized the need to establish safe corridors to deliver aid, as the situation continues to worsen amid the ongoing aggression and blockade.
