On Saturday, January 4, 2025, the Italian capital, Rome, witnessed a massive rally in front of the Palestinian Authority (PA) representative office, protesting the security coordination between the Palestinian security services and the occupying state, and denouncing the PA’s military campaign against the resistance in Jenin refugee camp. The demonstrators accused the PA of pursuing a treacherous policy towards the Palestinian people and their resistance, while the Zionist killing machine continues to commit genocide in Gaza, and denounced its coordination with the Israeli occupation instead of defending its people.
The scene in Jenin is increasingly tragic: As the Israeli army continues its incursions into occupied West Bank cities, the Palestinian Authority (PA) continues to persecute the resistance instead of protecting the Palestinian people from settler attacks. Jenin camp, a symbol of the Palestinian struggle, has become a target of repression by both Israel and the PA. Participants in the rally demanded an end to the siege that began in early December, which has so far resulted in the martyrdom of eight Palestinians, including a journalist and several children. The participants also insisted on the need to put an end to the cooperation between the PA security services and the Israeli occupation.
The organizers of the rally also condemned the role of the Italian state and the Meloni government, since Italy, by supporting the training of the PA security services, is in fact an indirect partner in the oppression of the Palestinians. In addition to being complicit in the genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, Italy also provides direct support to the PA security services, which continue their repressive campaign against the resistance.
The rally has sent a clear message: Italy must stop supporting and arming the Israeli occupation forces and stop supporting the Palestinian Authority in the repression of the Palestinian resistance. These demands must be clearly and explicitly raised in all activities and demonstrations of solidarity with Palestine in Italy.
