American actress Susan Sarandon joined pro-Palestinian protesters outside of Columbia University, one day after the president of the university ordered to arrest of over 108 peaceful protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a video posted on X, Sarandon shows her solidarity with the protesting students, who repeat her sentiments in a chant. \u201cAnd, that it is their right in a democracy especially in a place of education, and supposedly higher thought, to be attacked with racism and intolerance is not acceptable,\u201d said the actress, who has been outspoken about Israel\u2019s genocidal war in Gaza.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere are many, many people who stand with you. You must know that you inspire so many people, people who are afraid are looking to you and your voices and your organizations and your kindness to make a difference in the situation,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou give me hope, to me and so many people,\u201d the actress said. \u201cAnd in the end, the truth will win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dozens of students rallied demanding the university divest from weapons manufacturers arming Israel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
15 protesting students were suspended from Columbia University for taking part in the protest. Among them is Isra Hirsi, daughter of Ilhan Omar, a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will not be intimidated and will continue to push for transparency on Columbia\u2019s investments, divestment from companies complicit in genocide, and amnesty for students facing repression,\u201d Hiris wrote on social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will stand resolute until our demands are met,\u201d Hiris wrote on X after being suspended from the university following her activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
