Ghent – Belgium | Republic of Palestine (Exclusive)

The Belgian city of Ghent witnessed a large-scale demonstration today in solidarity with the Palestinian people, following a call by the “Ghent for Palestine” coalition, with broad participation from activists, Arab communities, and Belgian supporters.

Protesters raised Palestinian flags alongside those of Lebanon and Iran, in a scene reflecting a shared popular stance against ongoing wars and aggression in the region, and emphasizing the interconnected nature of struggles against oppression.

Participants chanted slogans condemning the massacres committed against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, and voiced strong opposition to the ongoing war of genocide and deliberate starvation imposed on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

Demonstrators also called for urgent international action to halt the ongoing violations, lift the siege on Gaza, and hold those responsible for crimes against civilians accountable.

Organizers stressed that this mobilization is part of a growing wave of grassroots action across Europe, where solidarity with Palestine is increasingly shifting from symbolic expressions to direct forms of political and street-level pressure.

Speeches delivered during the protest highlighted the importance of sustained public mobilization in European cities, and the need to escalate boycott efforts and hold complicit actors accountable, framing these as essential tools to confront the occupation and advance justice for the Palestinian people.

This demonstration comes as part of a broader series of actions taking place across Belgium and Europe, reaffirming that Palestine remains a central issue among peoples worldwide, and that European streets are becoming a critical arena in the struggle for justice and narrative.
