While the world marks World Press Freedom Day, Palestinian journalists—the knights of the word and image—continue to write history with their blood before their pens, standing on the frontlines in defense of truth in the face of one of the most brutal and systematic genocidal wars of modern times.

The Democratic Journalists’ Assembly affirms the following:

First/ We mourn with pride and honor 262 colleagues who have been martyred since the beginning of the aggression. They were not mere numbers, but 262 free voices that the occupation sought to silence through deadly force to prevent the truth from reaching the world.

Second/ We affirm that the occupation has completely failed to break the will of the Palestinian journalist. For every camera destroyed, dozens more will rise in its place, and for every pen they attempt to break, others will continue the path, committed to ensuring that the truth remains bright regardless of the sacrifices.

Third/ We send an urgent message to all international institutions, journalists’ unions, and media organizations worldwide: silence in the face of targeting Palestinian journalists is complicity in the crime. We call on you today to take serious action to ensure accountability and justice, and to stop the ongoing bloodshed in Gaza and across Palestine.

Fourth/ The blood of our colleagues will remain the compass of freedom that will never deviate. We will remain loyal to this trust until our people attain their freedom and the full truth is revealed to the entire world.

Glory and eternity to the martyrs of truth… Freedom for the knights of the word
