Palestine Republic – Special
The Union of Palestinian Communities and orananizations in Europe issued a comprehensive press statement marking the 50th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day, affirming that March 30, 2026 comes as the Palestinian people continue to face an existential struggle against ongoing policies of land confiscation and forced displacement.
The statement stressed that this historic milestone in the Palestinian struggle will remain a powerful declaration against the expansionist settlement project and a renewed affirmation of the Palestinian people’s historic right to their homeland—from the river to the sea—and to reclaim it, realize the right of return, and live with dignity on their national soil.
The union explained that this year’s commemoration takes place under exceptional circumstances for the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which has endured more than two years of a devastating war of genocide that has resulted in tens of thousands of martyrs and widespread destruction. This comes alongside the unprecedented escalation of annexation and settlement policies targeting Palestinian existence in the West Bank and Jerusalem, as well as systematic structural discrimination faced by Palestinians in the territories occupied in 1948, manifested through home demolitions and land confiscation aimed at undermining their historic presence.
Within its vision for justice and a political resolution, the union emphasized that the restoration of Palestinian national rights cannot be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation, enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination, and guaranteeing the right of return for Palestinian refugees to their homes from which they were forcibly displaced.
The statement also held the international community and the European Union directly responsible, legally and morally, urging them to move beyond rhetoric and adopt concrete measures, including the imposition of a comprehensive military and economic embargo on Israel and a full diplomatic and political boycott, in response to its ongoing crimes.
The Union of Palestinian Communities and Institutions in Europe concluded its statement by renewing its commitment to continue the struggle on all political, legal, and popular levels, while calling on Palestinian communities and people of conscience across Europe to take part in mass mobilizations and escalate civil action in defense of Palestinian rights and in support of their just cause until freedom and full sovereignty are achieved.
