The Union of Palestinian Communities and Organizations in Europe has called for urgent national action to halt the brutal campaign being carried out by the Palestinian Authority’s security forces against the city of Jenin and its refugee camp.
The Union condemned the campaign, describing it as a series of crimes against the Palestinian people, accompanied by rhetoric that aligns with the narrative of the Israeli occupation and echoes its claims. The Union emphasized that such actions clearly and directly serve the interests of the Israeli occupation.
The Union criticized the extrajudicial killing of young Palestinians, the storming of hospitals and their conversion into military posts, and other measures taken by the PA’s security forces during their military campaign in Jenin. These actions, the Union asserted, are purely criminal and unrelated to maintaining security or ensuring the safety of citizens. Instead, they aim to suppress the culture of resistance in the West Bank.
The Union reminded all Palestinian political entities of their fundamental duty to protect the Palestinian people from the Israeli occupation and its aggression. It argued that instead of confronting the Israeli occupation and its settlers, the PA’s security forces continue to target those who resist, making these forces a burden on the Palestinian people and a source of threats to social unity, community harmony, and resilience against the Israeli occupation.
The Union renewed its call for national unity in the face of the Israeli occupation, urging the rejection of these destructive policies and those behind them. It also called for national and societal solidarity and the building of a united struggle against the Israeli occupation.
