On December 13 and 14, the III Congress of the Communists of Catalonia (Comunistes de Catalunya) was held in Barcelona, with a large representation of communist and progressive parties from various parts of the world, as well as prominent diplomatic figures, such as the consulates of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Cuba.
The congress was attended by representatives of Palestinian factions, including the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), where a special speech on Palestine was delivered, addressing the grave situation facing the Palestinian cause, including the escalation of the Zionist project towards “Greater Israel” and its genocidal crimes against the Palestinian people.
The need for international solidarity and support for the Palestinian struggle against occupation was also stressed.
Congress participants discussed the conditions in their countries and their experiences in confronting imperialism, such as the achievements of the Uruguayan people in overthrowing the corrupt right-wing government and the struggle of the Kurdish people against Turkish expansionist policies.
The congress concluded with a speech by the Secretary General of the Party, Héctor Sánchez Mira, who stressed the importance of international solidarity in the face of imperialism, saluting the struggles of the Palestinian and Arab peoples. All the attendees and participants also greeted the Communists of Catalonia and congratulated them on the occasion of their third congress.
